Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting activities and help maintain reliable financial information for the organization in Dallas, Texas. This position contributes to the close process, reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis while partnering with colleagues across finance to keep records accurate and timely. The ideal candidate brings a solid grounding in accounting fundamentals, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities: - Record financial activity through journal entries and maintain accurate balances within the general ledger. - Complete recurring reconciliations, research discrepancies, and follow through on corrections to ensure account accuracy. - Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. - Assist in producing financial statements and internal reporting materials used for business review and decision-making. - Review accounting data to identify unusual movements, explain variances, and support follow-up actions. - Help develop and update cash flow projections by incorporating information from payables, receivables, and collections. - Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by tracking results and comparing performance against expectations. - Prepare audit support materials and respond to documentation requests from external auditors. - Participate in initiatives that improve accounting workflows, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency. - Provide occasional support for accounts payable activities and handle additional finance-related assignments as needed. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. - At least 2 years of accounting experience. - Working knowledge of core accounting practices, financial reporting, journal entries, and general ledger activity. - Experience with account reconciliations and close-related responsibilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data review. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with close attention to detail. - Ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. - Exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, corporate tax returns, or accounting systems is a plus.
