What should we build next?

How this board works

Every tool on this site exists because someone needed it during an application season and could not find a decent free version. This board is where that need gets recorded in public instead of disappearing into an inbox. Anyone can read and vote; posting needs a verified account, which keeps the board attached to real people without asking you for anything beyond an email address.

What happens to an idea after you post it

1. Review. New submissions are held and read by a person before they appear here. Nothing is published automatically. Spam, abuse, promotional posts and anything that is really a support question get removed at this stage — support questions are better sent through the contact form, where they get an answer.
2. Published as New. Approved ideas appear on the board and start collecting votes. Votes are one per person; signed-in votes are tied to the account, and guest votes to the browser.
3. Planned. Someone has decided to build it and roughly when. Ideas reach this stage on a mix of votes and feasibility — a request with eight votes that takes an afternoon beats one with thirty that needs a paid data feed.
4. Building. Work has started.
5. Done or Declined. Declined is used honestly and with a reason, rather than leaving a request sitting at New for a year. The usual reasons are cost (anything needing a paid API on a free tool), hosting limits, or a policy line we will not cross.

What makes a request likely to get built

• It is specific. "A LinkedIn headline generator for career changers" is buildable. "Make the site better" is not.
• It runs in a browser or on one cheap model call. The site's free tier costs nothing to run because the browser tools use no server at all. A request that needs a paid third-party data source is much harder to say yes to.
• It fits job seekers and students in the US, UK, Canada or Australia. That is who the site is written for, down to the spelling, date formats and notice-period rules.
• It explains the moment you needed it. The description field matters more than the title — knowing that you were staring at a 4,000-character limit at 11pm tells us what the tool has to do.

Things we will not build

Worth saying out loud so nobody wastes a submission: no media or video downloaders (they breach the source platforms' terms and the advertising policies this site runs under), nothing that generates fake references, fake experience or fake qualifications, and nothing that promises a guaranteed interview, a guaranteed job, or a guaranteed pass through an applicant tracking system. Those promises are not ours to make, and tools that imply otherwise mislead the people using them.

Ideas are written by visitors. They are reviewed before publication, but review is not infallible — if something here is spam, abusive, off-topic or misleading, use the Report link on the idea. Reports go straight to the top of the moderation queue and are looked at by a person.
