Accounting Specialist

Description A growing industrial solutions company in Katy is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to provide temporary support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning the day-to-day accounting process, working with a close-knit team, and having the autonomy to identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution. Key Responsibilities + Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable + Review, enter, and process vendor invoices accurately + Prepare and issue customer invoices, verifying billing details, freight, dates, and supporting documentation + Apply customer payments and assist with cash collections + Follow up with customers on outstanding balances via email and phone + Reconcile AP and AR activity and research discrepancies + Assist with job costing, inventory coding, and general ledger coding + Prepare and post routine journal entries + Set up new customers and maintain accurate customer records + Coordinate tax resale certificates and credit references + Partner with project managers and sales representatives to resolve billing and accounting questions + Assist with month-end accounting activities + Proactively identify unusual transactions, missing information, or discrepancies before processing Requirements Previous experience in bookkeeping, Staff Accounting, AP/AR, or transactional accounting Strong hands-on experience with both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including journal entries and GL coding Job costing and/or inventory accounting experience strongly preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Comfortable communicating directly with customers regarding collections Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines Proactive communication style and confidence to question discrepancies Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system skills Trimble Spectrum experience is a plus, but not required; training can be provided Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
