With a rich history dating back to 1957, our established programs have continually evolved to meet the needs of future leaders in academia while maintaining the integrity and benefits of a face-to-face environment.

FSU’s Higher Education programs offer the flexibility to build a course of study aligned with your interests and career goals. Both the M.S. and Ph.D. programs include 15 credit hours of electives, with suggested courses organized around focus areas in higher education administration, institutional research, and student affairs. Ph.D. students may also pursue focused coursework related to college faculty or public policy. Students who continue from the M.S. to the Ph.D. program may apply up to 30 credit hours from the master’s degree toward doctoral requirements, significantly reducing the time needed to complete the Ph.D.
