About this event

In this lecture, second-generation Studio Glass artist Dan Dailey reflects on a fifty-year career spent carving out a distinct space in the movement by introducing narrative humor to the organic, process-driven practice of his predecessors. Dailey will share insights from his storied journey, from serving as Dale Chihuly’s first graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), to earning a Fulbright fellowship with Venini in Murano, to founding MassArt's glass program. He will also discuss the industrial design side of his practice and explore how infusing the formal tradition of glass art with wit has defined his lasting contribution.
